Jake Harnish and Brittany Miracle grew up in
Vermont. Today they both reside in Johnson, Vermont and are employed by the
Vermont Studio Center.
Brittany’s paintings, involving the use of bright
colors and a loose brush style, allow a wide range of both reality and fantasy for
the viewer to explore. Through painting, Brittany explores the Earth’s obvious
attributes, combined with the unknown. Jake’s ceramic works revolve around the use
of the throwing wheel. Jake’s work takes on an off-kilter, nature theme by displaying
a range of imagery, from mountains and birch trees, to imaginative takes on
outer space and other worldly matters.
This show focuses on the practice of material use,
and concepts relating to the whimsical, the perfectly imperfect, and the offbeat
world of nature.
